Privacy, in plant language

This policy applies to https://toronto-aquarium-tickets-online.com. It is written for people, including people who arrived from an advertisement, and it is meant to satisfy a straightforward reading of PIPEDA and of the role of Ontario's Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC).

Who we are

Toronto Aquarium Ticket Guide is an independent planning guide published by Paul Bergen in Toronto, Ontario. Postal address: P.O. Box 251, Station K, Toronto, ON M4P 2G5, Canada. Email: [email protected]. Toronto Aquarium Ticket Guide is an independent planning guide. It is not affiliated with any aquarium or its operator. We do not sell tickets and never process payments.

If you came from an advertisement

If you came from an advertisement, pause and read this paragraph. This site is a planning guide. It is not an aquarium operator. It does not sell tickets. It never processes payments. An ad may have used planning words — aquarium, shark tunnel, timed entry, Toronto, downtown, galleries, rays, jellyfish, sawfish — because those are the facts of a visit. An ad did not turn these pages into a box office. We do not receive your card number. We do not complete a booking. If you want a ticket, you deal with the operator on the operator's terms. Advertisers and ad networks involved in showing you that ad are separate organisations. Their cookies and identifiers, if any, are theirs. See also Cookies.

What we collect

These pages have no account system and no payment form. We do not ask for a card, a booking name, or a phone number. If you email us, we receive whatever you put in the message, plus standard mail metadata. If you write to the P.O. box, we receive paper. Server logs on the host may record an IP address, user agent, date, and requested path. That is ordinary web-server logging for security and fault-finding, not a marketing file.

What we do not collect

We do not run analytics tags, pixels, tag managers, or third-party fonts. We do not embed maps or other iframes. We do not sell personal information. We do not process payments, so we do not see payment data.

PIPEDA and Ontario's IPC

The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) sets out how private-sector organisations in Canada may collect, use, and disclose personal information in the course of commercial activity. Ontario's Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) oversees privacy rights in the province, including complaints and guidance. This guide does not sell tickets and does not process payments. To the extent those laws apply to an independent publisher answering mail, we keep these rules:

  • We identify ourselves on every page, including in the footer disclosure.
  • We collect as little as the medium requires (email you send, or server logs).
  • We use that information to answer you or to keep the site working, not to build a profile.
  • We do not disclose your mail to unrelated parties except if the law requires it.
  • You may write to ask what we hold about you from correspondence. There is no user database behind the pages.
  • You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, and you may also look to Ontario's IPC for provincial privacy guidance, if you believe we have mishandled your information.

Retention

Email is kept as long as needed to answer the thread, then in ordinary mail archives. Server logs rotate on the host's schedule.

Children

The guide is written for adults planning a visit, including families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through these pages.
